Why this exists
The USPTO announces every time a patent ends early, but the announcement is only a number, so nobody can tell what the patent was for without digging.
Product-research tools are good at finding demand, but they treat patents as a hurdle you check by hand. Patent databases are good at patents and know nothing about what sells. Nobody was connecting the two, even though the government publishes a fresh list of newly unprotected inventions every week.
Fresh Off Patent reads that list, keeps the things people buy, and writes each one up in plain English. It's meant for sellers, small manufacturers and designers who would rather make something with a track record than guess at what might sell.
It's a small, independent project based in Atlanta. Questions, corrections and complaints all go to hello@freshoffpatent.com, where a person reads them.
